Vaniglia

Originating from the botanical family of orchids from Central America, vanilla was the main ingredient in a drink cherished by the Aztecs, who were the first to discover and savour its taste. They called it 'Tlixochill', meaning black berries, and combined it with cocoa to create the precursor of our modern vanilla-scented chocolate. Legend has it that Emperor Montezuma offered this beverage to Hernán Cortés, who then introduced the cocoa plant to Spain in 1500, leading to its spread throughout Europe.
