Gelsomino Eau de Parfum, nommé d’après un jasmin rare cultivé dans la Stufa dei Mugherini, à la Villa di Castello. Bergamote, mandarine et poivre rose en tête. Jasmin sambac, géranium et ylang-ylang au cœur. Bois de cèdre et musc en fond. En 1688, Cosme III de Médicis reçut en cadeau du roi Pierre II de Portugal une variété rare de jasmin venue de Goa. Confiée aux soins exclusifs de ses botanistes personnels, la plante devint célèbre sous le nom de Jasmin du Grand-Duc. L’Eau de Parfum place ce jasmin au cœur de sa composition : une ouverture florale et épicée, sur un fond boisé. De la collection I Giardini Medicei.

I came to Gelsomino by way of a miniature, and it proved the wiser course. Where lesser jasmines announce themselves with indolic excess, this one wears its white blossoms with a gardener's precision — luminous yet composed, heady without excess, as though the flower were gathered at dawn rather than at dusk. The scent settles beautifully: a luminous floral heart softened by green undertones and a clean, powdery base. It carries with dignity and endures gracefully — the miniature, modest as it was, lasted weeks of daily wear. Several discerning acquaintances remarked upon it unprompted, which I have come to regard as the surest endorsement a fragrance can receive. The full bottle has been ordered; for admirers of jasmine done properly, I can offer no higher counsel.
